This is a personal project work in progress. I’ve modeled the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur, Paris in Maya, and exported the geometery to Crysis using MayaCGF. I painted the textures from photographs and exported them as CryTif to make them compatible with the game engine. The Shader work is being done inside Sandbox2, as is the case with all the lighting, weather effects, fire, and vegetation. I will eventually make an entire level consisting of this historic building and the surrounding area… but in an eeeevil setting. I’m planning a graveyard on the East side with a twisted hero tree, and some other fun things. The content contained in this video is for promotional purposes only.

My primary interests are character design and concept art. This is my first attempt at a 3D short. I started out with a simple story and designed the characters around this idea. I created full storyboards, 2D and 3D animatics as well as a maquette before going forward with the three month production. I worked on every aspect of the short myself. The animation, rigging, lighting, rendering, and the bulk of the modeling was done in Maya. I also used Softimage for some modeling and early rigs as well. I created the textures in Photoshop and did all of the compositing in After Effects.

I’ve been working in the industry a short while now as a VFX Technical Director (since may 2009). I really enjoy making particles and scripting, I feel it’s like new age problem solving. I love figuring out how to make a rig so it does what the animators need, or to be able to control particles exactly how they need to be moved.
